Shueisha Games and developer CLYRE have announced DATE A LIVE: Love Limit Break, a mobile RPG-simulation title that allows players to both fight and date powerful spirits from the Date A Live universe. Pre-registration is now live on Google Play Japan, with milestone rewards promised for early sign-ups. The game is part of the franchise’s 12th anniversary celebration (via X), tying into the theme of the “12 spirits” that have defined the series’ narrative arc.
Development of Love Limit Break emphasizes a dual gameplay loop: players take on the role of Shido Itsuka, interacting with spirits through branching dialogue choices that affect relationship outcomes, while also engaging in turn-based battles where spirits’ powers are unleashed against enemies.
Successful dates strengthen spirits, improving their combat abilities, creating a unique synergy between narrative and gameplay. The title also features original illustrations and scenarios supervised by Kadokawa, ensuring authenticity for fans of the anime and light novels. Compared to similar adaptations like Date A Live: Spirit Pledge, which leaned heavily on gacha mechanics, Love Limit Break appears to focus more on simulation depth and narrative immersion.
