Masala Games has officially announced that Detective Dotson, its pixel-art mystery adventure set in modern-day India, will launch on Nintendo Switch in Q4 2025. The news was first reported by AppMedia Japan, highlighting the game’s partnership with Japanese publisher Rainy Frog to bring the title to Japanese and global audiences.
Already available on PC and Xbox Series, the Switch version will include full Japanese and English localization, along with a collector’s edition featuring exclusive art and soundtrack content. Originally released on Steam in April 2025, Detective Dotson has garnered good reviews for its vibrant depiction of Indian culture and its unique blend of cozy mystery gameplay and Bollywood flair. The game is a sort of mix of Ace Attorney and Monkey Island, wrapped in a Bollywood film”.
Players take on the role of Dotson, a reluctant detective whose dreams of stardom are interrupted by the mysterious death of his father. The game features four interconnected cases, a dynamic evidence board system, and mini-games ranging from cricket to dance-offs.
Beyond the Switch release, Masala Games has release Detective Dotson: The Movie, an animated prequel built in Unreal Engine 5. The film premiered at Hyderabad Comic Con and is available on Youtube with english subs.
