Elpis: Fallen Star kicks off Open Beta Test on Android

GENMUGAME, a development studio based in Japan, has officially launched the open beta test (OBT) for its mobile RPG, Elpis: Fallen Star. The test is currently live on Android devices in a few select regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Philippines.

This OBT, (you can join here in the Google Play Store) which is scheduled to run from August 19 to August 30, 2025, offers players their first opportunity to dive into the game’s unique blend of anime-style visuals and semi-real-time strategy combat. As is typical for a beta, all progress made during this period will be wiped upon the game’s official launch.

Elpis: Fallen Star distinguishes itself with a compelling narrative set in a world threatened by an encroaching abyss, which is spewing forth corruption and monstrous beings. At the heart of the game’s experience lies its combat system, which combines strategic pre-battle planning with real-time tactical decisions. Players command a squad of up to eight members, each belonging to one of four distinct classes.

The game was released before in Japan under the name of Starfall: Elpis of the Abyss (星落:深淵のエルピス). While this open beta is limited to specific regions and devices, the feedback will be instrumental in shaping the final product. The developers’ focus on a unique combat loop, combined with a compelling storyline and vibrant anime visuals, has generated significant interest within the mobile gaming community.
