Masala Games is an Indian independent game studio, best known for the cozy mystery adventure Detective Dotson, released on April 24, 2025, for PC and Steam Deck, with console ports and couch co-op support planned for later in the year. Set in the vibrant streets of modern India, the game follows Dotson, a young man who once dreamed of Bollywood stardom but finds himself solving crimes after the mysterious death of his father. The narrative unfolds across four interconnected cases, each revealing new layers of the overarching mystery, as players explore bustling neighborhoods, interrogate quirky locals, and piece together clues on a dynamic evidence board. The game blends pixel art characters with 3D environments, creating a visually striking world filled with food carts, dance stages, and hidden alleyways. Gameplay emphasizes dialogue-driven investigation, item trading, and disguise mechanics that draw on Dotson’s acting background, alongside mini-games such as street cricket and Bollywood dance-offs.
