The Pokémon Works

The Pokémon Works is a Japanese development studio established by The Pokémon Company, Nintendo and Game Freak to develop titles for the Pokémon franchise. Its first major project, Pokémon Champions, is a cross-platform game unveiled at the Pokémon Presents in July 2025 and planned for release in 2026 on iOS, Android and Nintendo Switch. Rather than offering exploration or story campaigns, the game focuses entirely on competitive Pokémon battles, letting players climb global leaderboards in Ranked Battles, enjoy Casual Battles or challenge friends in Private Battles. It integrates with Pokémon HOME so Trainers can bring in creatures from games like Pokémon Scarlet and Violet or Pokémon GO, while a simplified training system eases competitive team building. Confirmed features such as Mega Evolution and Terastallization add strategic depth, positioning the title as a dedicated, cross-platform hub for online Pokémon battles with clear esports ambitions.
