ArcadeMania Brings MAME Emulation to iPhone and iPad

Retro gaming be happy. ArcadeMania, a MAME-based emulator, is now available on the iOS App Store. Developed by Infinite Evolution Technologies (Yoshisuga on Github), this free app allows users to play over 5,000 classic arcade games on their iPhones and iPads.

ArcadeMania utilizes the open-source MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) version 0.269 as its core, enabling support for a vast array of arcade titles spanning the past 30 years. The app boasts features tailored for iOS, including a native Metal graphics renderer, custom shaders, HDR support, and compatibility with various controllers such as Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and Switch. Additionally, it supports touch screen lightgun functionality and hardware keyboard input.

While the app doesn’t include any game ROMs due to legal considerations, it provides a custom ROM for testing purposes. Users can import their own ROMs via the Files app or other file import methods. It’s important to note that the legality of using certain ROMs varies by jurisdiction, and users should ensure they have the right to use any ROMs they import.

The journey to the App Store wasn’t without challenges. Previously known as MAME4iOS, the app faced multiple rejections due to Apple’s policies on emulators and ROM usage (MAME4iOS vs Apple idiocy about ROMs | Revert to Saved). After rebranding to ArcadeMania and making necessary adjustments, the app was finally approved and released in April 2025.

ArcadeMania has been well-received, it got positive reviews for its performance and features. With its release, iOS now have a solid option for enjoying classic arcade games on their devices. For more information and to download the app, visit the ArcadeMania App Store page.
