KochiKame: Ryo-san’s Billion Yen Beat Brings Manga Comedy to Mobile

Shueisha Games and Kairosoft have officially announced Kochikame: Ryo-san’s Billion Yen Beat, a rhythm-action title inspired by Osamu Akimoto’s legendary manga Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo (commonly known as Kochikame). Revealed in December 2025, the game will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PS4, PC, iOS, and Android, marking one of the most ambitious cross-platform launches for a manga-based adaptation.

The announcement trailer highlights the series’ iconic protagonist, police officer Kankichi Ryotsu, navigating comedic scenarios while players tap along to rhythm-based challenges tied to the manga’s humor and eccentric energy.

The collaboration between Shueisha Games and Kairosoft is particularly notable. Kairosoft, best known for simulation titles like Game Dev Story and Pocket Academy, is venturing into rhythm-action gameplay for the first time. This shift suggests a hybrid approach: lighthearted rhythm mechanics infused with Kairosoft’s trademark charm and accessible design. The game’s structure appears to combine rhythm battles with narrative vignettes, allowing fans to relive classic Kochikame moments while engaging in interactive challenges.

Kochikame remains one of Japan’s longest-running manga series, with over 1,900 chapters published between 1976 and 2016. Its comedic slice-of-life tone has made it a cultural staple, and this adaptation aims to capture that spirit for both long-time fans and new audiences. Shueisha Games has confirmed a global release, though localized adjustments may apply. Here is the Steam link, we don’t have iOS and Android links yet but they are confirmed. The game will support English, Japanese, and Traditional Chinese.
