Tower of Nod – Climb the tower in this new roguelike

Indie developer Indiana Kuffer (I love and hate his website) has launched Tower of Nod, a new roguelike that challenges players to navigate an ever-shifting tower in a hauntingly surreal world. Now available on iOS, the game mixes platforming with deck building mechanics, and adds a twist: a dual-reality setup that requires players to shift between wakefulness and sleep to advance.

Set in a dark, purgatorial realm, in Tower of Nod players should climb a treacherous tower filled with unpredictable traps, monsters, and hazards. But it’s the “Dream Phase” that sets this game apart. Each time the hero falls asleep, players can control falling blocks to forge a new path up the tower, a mechanic that adds both strategy and complexity to the climb. The roguelike procedural generation ensures no two ascents are the same, introducing ever-fresh challenges like flamethrowers, bombs, and rising lava to keep players on their toes.

Items found throughout the journey—such as springs for a quick boost, healing auras, and balloons—can be tactically combined to help overcome obstacles, while relics grant additional skills. Tower of Nod is a Premium game, and it is available now on iOS App Store for $4.99. Just keep in mind that the game has a vertical screen format and the challenges can be quite difficult.
