Valorant Mobile launches in China – How to play the game

After the beta period, VALORANT Mobile (无畏契约:源能行动), the mobile adaptation of Riot Games’ popular tactical shooter, has officially launched in mainland China. The game, a collaborative effort between Riot Games and Tencent’s Lightspeed Studios, went live on August 19, 2025, to an overwhelmingly positive response from players. The launch was preceded by a massive pre-registration campaign that amassed over 70 million sign-ups, an incredibly rare feat that surpasses even the initial pre-registration numbers of major titles like Call of Duty: Mobile.

The launch of VALORANT Mobile in China is a significant milestone, marking the game’s first official release on a global scale. The title, known in China as 无畏契约:源能行动 (Wúwèi Qìyuē: Yuánnéng Xíngdòng), or “Valorant: Operation Primal,” brings the core 5v5 competitive shooter experience of the PC version to mobile devices while introducing new features tailored for the platform.

To celebrate the launch, Riot Games collaborated with artist bbno$ to create an official launch song, which became available to a global audience on August 18th. Tencent has also announced a “National Competition” with an annual prize pool of $1.3 million, solidifying a clear path for a mobile esports ecosystem. The Korean gaming news site Danawa DPG confirmed the August 19th launch date, highlighting the game’s commitment to recreating the PC experience on mobile.

While the game is currently exclusive to China, a global release is highly anticipated. Players outside of China who wish to play have found workarounds, such as downloading the game via third-party Chinese app stores like TapTap and using a Chinese-based QQ or WeChat account to log in. The game is available to iOS Apple too, but you will need to changue your region.

The game’s system requirements are relatively high, supporting up to 144 FPS on select devices, and the title requires a substantial amount of storage space. So you will need a high end phone.
