The detective game The Rise of the Golden Idol, a sequel to The Case of the Golden Idol, is set to release on mobile on November 12, via Netflix Games. The sequel brings players into the 1970s, 300 years after the events of the original, where they investigate 20 eerie and complex cases tied to the mysterious Golden Idol.
In The Rise of the Golden Idol, each chapter presents a crime in progress, depicted in the game’s distinctive and unsettling art style. Instead of seeing the entire crime unfold, players are shown brief repeating cutscenes capturing events immediately before, during, or after the crime. Armed with clues from these scenes, players use a notebook of words to piece together the events and solve the mystery. The puzzles start simple but grow increasingly complex, creating a deep and interconnected narrative.
With its bizarre yet familiar world and immersive storytelling, The Rise of the Golden Idol seems like a really nice options if you want to try something different. The game will be available on Android and iOS via the Netflix Games subscription service, on consoles and PC via Steam too.
