This game is too much like the social media ad game. Age of Empires: Survival, a mobile spin-off of the legendary RTS franchise, has officially soft-launched on Android in the United States and Puerto Rico. The game is being developed by Level Infinite, a subsidiary of Tencent Games, this new entry reimagines the series as a casual survival strategy game, designed for quick sessions and streamlined gameplay.
Players begin by managing a small medieval village, gathering resources, and preparing for waves of enemies using simplified “gate mechanics”—a system that blends tower defense with real-time action. The game features eight civilizations and over 40 legendary heroes, each with unique abilities and upgrade paths. Combat is fast-paced, requiring players to dodge, shoot, and craft weapons to survive increasingly difficult encounters.
While fans may find the gameplay a departure from traditional Age of Empires titles, Survival introduces dynamic terrain, weather effects, and alliance systems that echo the strategic depth of its predecessors. The game is available now on the Google Play Store, with no official word yet on an iOS release or global rollout.
