Virtual Circle (虚环) is an upcoming strategy RPG developed by Tencent’s CDD division, blending virtual idol culture with tactical combat and character development. Set in a parallel world known as the “Virtual Ring,” the game features real-life Vtubers and virtual anchors who transform into battle idols within the game’s narrative. Players take on the role of a mysterious detective tasked with assembling and training a team of idols to compete in the VFC—the ultimate idol showdown—while uncovering the dark secrets behind the competition and the world itself.
The gameplay combines card-based strategy mechanics with idol simulation elements. Players collect characters, build squads, and engage in turn-based battles that emphasize flashy combat animations and synergy between team members. Each character has dual identities: one as a popular Vtuber in the real world and another as a combat-ready idol in the Virtual Ring. The game also features time-travel elements, parallel dimensions, and a rich cast including well-known figures like 星瞳, 七海Nana7mi, and members of A-SOUL. Developed using the Unity engine, Virtual Circle focuses heavily on performance-driven visuals and narrative depth.
As of now, Virtual Circle is in early development. Pre-registration is open in China, and the game has already gained traction on platforms like Bilibili, where it topped reservation charts shortly after announcement.
