Oceanhorn 3: Legend of the Shadow Sea – Launches March 5 on Apple Arcade

The Oceanhorn series, often described as a bridge between indie RPGs and console-scale adventures, is returning with Oceanhorn 3: Legend of the Shadow Sea. Developed by Helsinki-based studio Cornfox & Brothers, the game will be available on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV through Apple Arcade starting March 5, 2026.

Set nearly a thousand years after Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm, the story once again follows the Champion of Sol, now tasked with uncovering the mysteries of the Shadow Sea. Gameplay expands beyond the sailing mechanics that defined earlier entries, introducing gliding, land exploration, and duels against colossal beasts. This evolution positions Oceanhorn 3 as a hybrid experience, drawing comparisons to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Wind Waker, and even Horizon Zero Dawn in terms of exploration and combat variety.

The developers promise a 20-hour main storyline, supported by side quests and hidden content, ensuring depth for both newcomers and long-time fans. The game’s design embraces what critics call a “grab-bag mentality,” combining fan-favorite mechanics from across the RPG genre into one cohesive package. This approach has been a hallmark of the series, which has consistently aimed to deliver console-quality experiences on mobile platforms.

Regional availability is tied to Apple Arcade (pre-register here), meaning the game will be accessible globally to subscribers without additional purchases. This exclusivity does, however, limit access for players outside Apple’s ecosystem, unlike Oceanhorn 2, which eventually expanded to consoles and PC.
