After the initial soft launch, Foundation: Galactic Frontier, a sci-fi strategy RPG developed by FunPlus Chengdu Studio in collaboration with Skydance Games, is officially launching on iOS later this year, with pre-registration now open on iOS. Inspired by Isaac Asimov’s Hugo Award-winning Foundation series, the game blends RPG storytelling, fleet management, and space combat in a richly detailed universe.
Players assume the role of a space trader, assembling a crew and rebuilding their mothership after a pirate ambush. Gameplay includes dialogue-driven missions, resource gathering, and strategic battles against AI-controlled enemies and other players. You’ll recruit from 13 unique Champions, each with tactical abilities, and upgrade your ship using Ice Shards, Metal Shards, and Galactic Coins.
The game supports both PvE and PvP modes, allowing players to form alliances, engage in large-scale wars, and dock with scattered decks to expand their fleet. Notably, the ships were designed by veterans from franchises like Fallout, Star Wars, and Stargate, adding cinematic flair to the experience.
The iOS version is expected to release globally on October 21, 2025, according to the App Store listing. And I’m sure more countries will be available on Android too.
