Varsapura is an upcoming psychological thriller and open-world action RPG developed by HoYoverse, built on Unreal Engine 5. The game represents a bold departure from the studio’s usual anime-inspired RPGs like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, instead embracing a darker, more atmospheric tone.
Drawing inspiration from titles such as Silent Hill and Death Stranding, Varsapura blends supernatural horror with survival mechanics, stealth-based combat, and chaotic vehicle gameplay. Its world is designed with a realistic aesthetic, though characters retain HoYoverse’s signature anime influence, creating a unique blend of styles.
The narrative centers on a hazardous substance known as “Mindrot,” which corrupts both environments and people, forcing players to navigate psychological tension alongside physical danger. Early previews suggest that players may be able to swap between multiple protagonists, hinting at a gacha-like or unlock system for character progression.
Currently, Varsapura is in active development, having been officially announced in late 2025. Promotional materials and early gameplay details have been shared, but the project remains in its pre-release phase with no playable beta available yet. The official release window for Varsapura is set for 2026, with the game confirmed for PC at launch (but I hope for mobile too).
