Dragon Sword – Webzen’s Open-World ARPG Launches January 21

Webzen has confirmed that Dragon Sword (드래곤소드) will debut on January 21, 2026 on Korea, marking one of the first major cross-platform RPG releases of the year. Developed by Hound13, the game is a modernized action RPG built on Unreal Engine. The narrative follows a young fighter with mysterious powers who joins a mercenary crew to uncover the truth behind the return of dragons after a 60-year absence.

Development of Dragon Sword has been closely watched since its initial reveal, with Webzen positioning it as a flagship title to compete with genre leaders like Genshin Impact and Tower of Fantasy. The game emphasizes fast, aggressive combat, allowing players to chain aerial and ground combos in real time. Dragon Sword focuses more on skill-based action, though collectible elements and character progression remain central.

Dragon Sword arrives at a time when cross-platform ARPGs are increasingly popular. The appeal lies in its blend of Dragon Nest-inspired combat and modern open-world design, which could resonate with both nostalgic fans and new audiences. The challenge will be sustaining engagement in a crowded market where live-service updates and monetization strategies often determine longevity.

The game will be available on Korea, with English support. You can check in the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store.
