The South Korean studio Hound 13 has opened pre-registration for the Closed Beta Test (CBT) of Dragon Sword (龍之劍) (Project D), an open-world action RPG built using Unreal Engine 5. Which means it comes with stunning visuals. It also features manual combat mechanics, and a rich fantasy setting.
We saw the first Dragon Sword trailer last year, and now devs point out that the strengths of this game are the semi-open world design and the strategic real-time combat. The game will draw inspiration from classic souls-like mechanics, rewarding players for skillful execution of attacks, dodges, and combos. And it is gonna be a gacha of course.
The set is in the kingdom of Orbis, Dragon Sword follows Lute, a mercenary destined to wield the legendary Dragonsword. Unlike typical gacha titles, this game appears to focus on action-based gameplay, emphasizing player skill over auto-battle mechanics. Given Hound 13’s experience in fast-paced RPG combat, fans are hopeful that Dragon Sword will set a new standard in mobile ARPGs.

The Closed Beta Test begins on May 8, 2025, with pre-registration now open (official website). Those who sign up early can unlock exclusive in-game rewards, including currency, equipment, and enhancement items. However, the beta is currently limited to select regions (KR, you need a KR phone number), with a global expansion expected later.
