Square Enix’s latest strategy RPG, Emberstoria, is set to launch on November 27 in Japan for iOS, Android, and PC via DMM Games Player (source X/Twitter). This free-to-play game transports players to Purgatory, a land overrun by monsters where humanity uses ancient, rediscovered technology to build floating cities and summon otherworldly warriors known as Embers. The game combines real-time battlefield strategy, city-building mechanics, and an immersive story backed by a star-studded voice cast.
Square Enix worked in gameplay features like: include real-time strategic battles to conquer the central tower of Purgatory, alongside city development in Anima Arca, a floating base customizable to the player’s preferences. Players can form contracts with Embers, train them using resources obtained from defeating magical beasts, and craft powerful equipment to enhance their army. The game’s narrative promises depth, with a fully voiced main story and stunning Live2D character interactions, supported by music from acclaimed composer Masashi Hamauzu and a theme song by Hiroyuki Sawano.
Boasting character designs by Yusuke Kozaki (Fire Emblem Awakening) and a scenario penned by Benny Matsuyama (SaGa Frontier Remastered), Emberstoria (official website) aims to deliver a high-quality experience for RPG enthusiasts. You can pre-register in Google Play Japan and iOS App Store Japan.
