The Chinese mobile game Fellow Moon (新月同行), would be ending its service on Mainland Chinese servers, the Japanese versión will go on until it reaches the point of the Chinese edition, according to the official X account. Though the game earned praise for its distinctive urban fantasy aesthetic, high-quality 2D animation, and player-friendly quality-of-life features—such as a gacha system focused solely on characters rather than separate weapon banners—its trajectory was ultimately cut short.
Industry analysts suggest that despite the game’s high production value, it struggled to carve out sustainable market share against established titans and newly launched blockbusters. In a sector where titles like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail command global attention and overwhelming revenue, games from smaller studios often require unparalleled innovation or massive backing to survive beyond their first year.
