Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis – Service Ends October 7

Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis, Square Enix’s ambitious mobile retelling of the legendary RPG, will officially end service on October 7, 2026, closing the chapter on one of the most notable gacha-driven adaptations of the franchise.

The announcement confirms that the game will shut down globally, with in-app purchases disabled ahead of the termination date. Ever Crisis was launched in 2023 as a free-to-play title on iOS and Android, later expanding to PC, and was designed to reimagine the Final Fantasy VII saga by combining storylines from the original game, Crisis Core, and other spin-offs into a single episodic format. Players were able to relive iconic events while also experiencing new narrative content exclusive to the mobile adaptation, including original scenarios supervised by Square Enix.

Gameplay revolved around turn-based combat enhanced with cinematic visuals, character recruitment, and weapon gacha systems. The game’s episodic structure allowed fans to progress through different arcs of the Final Fantasy VII universe, while seasonal events and crossover campaigns kept content fresh. Despite its strong initial reception and comparisons to titles like Final Fantasy Brave Exvius and War of the Visions, Ever Crisis struggled to maintain long-term engagement, with criticism often directed at its monetization model and pacing of updates.

The shutdown applies to all territories, as Ever Crisis was available globally from launch. Square Enix has confirmed that players will be able to access the game until October 7, after which servers will be permanently closed.
