After ten years of service, Gundam Tribe, the long-running browser-based strategy game, is officially shutting down on May 27, 2025. Developed by Bandai Namco Online, the game has been a staple for Gundam fans, offering a mix of tactical battles, unit collection, and large-scale events. However, despite its longevity, declining player base and shifting market trends have led to its End of Service (EoS).
The game was originally launched in June 2015, in Japan of course. Gundam Tribe allowed players to assemble teams of iconic Mobile Suits, engage in turn-based combat, and participate in seasonal events inspired by the Gundam universe. Over the years, the game introduced new units, collaborations, and limited-time missions.
The announcement of EoS come with a lot of nostalgia and disappointment over the closure. Some fans recall the early days of the game, when matchmaking was lively and events were frequent. Others cite monetization issues and lack of cross-media promotion as contributing factors to its decline. Despite the shutdown, the final event, titled Beyond the Time, will take place on May 12, 2025, as a farewell to the community. The game was available only in Japan via Yahoo Japan. Bandai Namco has confirmed that premium gacha purchases will remain available until March 18, 2025, with the microtransaction system closing on March 31, 2025.
