Kakao Games has officially announced that Eversoul will shut down on August 20, 2025 in Japan, marking the end of its service just one year after its launch in May 2024. The decision was attributed to the team’s assessment that they could no longer provide a service that meets player expectations going forward. Which usually means that it was not commercially successful.
Players will be able to request refunds for unused paid currency between August 20 and October 22, 2025. Despite the shutdown, the developers are planning a series of farewell events, including revival banners, new spirits, raids, and a 3x reward campaign, to give fans a proper send-off.
Originally launched globally in 2023 after multiple delays, Eversoul gained attention for its anime-style visuals, collectible Souls from six factions, and town-building mechanics. The Japanese version, however, struggled to maintain momentum, leading to this early sunset. Players who still enjoy the game are encouraged to continue their journey in the global version, which remains active.
