Koei Tecmo and Bandai Namco have officially announced Kingdom: Hadou, a new a free-to-play strategy game set in the world of the popular anime Kingdom. The game is scheduled for iOS and Android (no release date yet), with a closed beta test planned for mid-to-late January 2025. Players interested can apply for the beta through the official website until January 2, 2025, though participation is limited to just 5,000 player, and language limited to Japan.
So far we know that in Kingdom: Hadou we can take the role of a general, commanding armies in the war-torn lands of the anime’s universe. The game’s detailed 3D maps recreate iconic battlefields, from the sprawling Dakan Plains to the strategic Hangu Pass. Players must navigate forests for ambushes, utilize hills for a tactical advantage, and work with their allies to capture castles and fortresses. The goal? To rise through the ranks and claim the title of “Taishogun of the Land.”
PR says the game emphasis on large-scale battles. The game’s “Siege Battles” pit 30 players against 30 in clashes for fortresses, complete with siege towers and coordinated assaults. Tactical teamwork is essential, as players will need to defend their positions while launching powerful counterattacks. The game also introduces a unique system where players strengthen their armies by forging emotional bonds with their officers, weaving these “emotions” into their spirit to unlock greater strength and resilience.
Despite the announce, the rest outside Japan are left wondering if we will get a chance to try the game. The anime has a significant international following, yet there has been no mention of an English localization. There is some disappointment at this decision, given the global success of similar strategy games, but let’s see.
