Re:ZERO – World Witch’s Re:surrection server shutdown on May

Kadokawa Corporation has announced that the mobile game Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World: Witch’s Re:surrection will cease operations on May 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM JST. Launched in Japan on August 31, 2024, the game will have been active for just under nine months.

Witch’s Re:surrection is a 3D RPG based on the popular Re:ZERO light novel and anime series. The game allows players to embark on adventures with characters like Subaru, Emilia, and Rem, featuring semi-automatic command battles. Following the announcement, sales of the in-game currency, Magic Rainbow Crystals, have been discontinued. Players with unused paid Magic Rainbow Crystals will be eligible for refunds, with applications opening on May 30.

In the lead-up to the shutdown, the developers have planned several in-game events and are offering daily character gacha tickets with boosted rates as login bonuses. The closure of Witch’s Re:surrection adds to a series of Re:ZERO game adaptations that have ended service prematurely, highlighting the challenges of sustaining mobile games based on anime franchises, not good time for otaku gamers.
