After all it wasn’t and IA game. HoYoverse has officially unveiled Varsapura, a significant departure from HoYoverse’s usual RPG formula. Instead of the vibrant fantasy worlds of Genshin Impact or Honkai: Star Rail, this project leans into psychological thriller and survival elements, drawing comparisons to Silent Hill and Death Stranding.
The demo introduces players to the SEAL (Shadow Emergency Alliance) entry test, where characters such as Sayuki, Simmons, and Mr. Shadow appear. Gameplay showcases stealth mechanics, chaotic vehicle sequences, and combat against threats linked to a mysterious substance called “Mindrot.”

A unique feature revealed is the protagonist’s appearance adapting to each viewer’s perspective, described as a parapsychological effect, which has sparked discussion about personalization in narrative-driven games. Visually, Varsapura is powered by Unreal Engine 5, with environments inspired by a fictionalized Singapore, including areas resembling Bencoolen and Fort Canning.
At present, Varsapura has no confirmed regional release schedule, but industry watchers expect closed beta testing in Asia before a wider rollout. For now, there is a official X account to follow if you want more news. Here the full gameplay demo:
