Star Savior – Global launch confirmed for March 26

Star Savior will be available worldwide on both iOS and Android in March 26, 2025. Pre-registration begins on December 24th. This announcement comes some days after the Korean/Japanese release. The game introduces players to a cosmic RPG journey, where they command a group of “Maidens” across interstellar battlefields. Each Maiden represents unique abilities and personalities, forming the backbone of the game’s squad-based combat system.

Now, the Asian release has been a little problematic. The game initially adopted a gacha system similar to Nikke: Goddess of Victory, but with harsher odds. The “160 wall” progression mechanic was paired with a 2.5% SSR rate and 1% rate-up, compared to Nikke’s 4% SSR and 2% rate-up, making StarSavior more expensive and less rewarding. This quickly became the central complaint across Japanese and Korean gaming boards.

Technical issues compounded the frustration. Players reported frame rate drops, bugs, and tedious daily tasks, while PvP systems were criticized as unbalanced. The situation worsened during the game’s official Japanese livestream featuring voice actors. A gacha pull demonstration failed spectacularly, with no SSR characters appearing until the 200th pull. The stream, watched largely by Korean players, became a source of mockery online.

In response, Studio BSide held an emergency livestream, promising to raise SSR rates to 4% and adjust other systems. Despite these assurances, the game’s reputation in Japan has suffered, with StarSavior ranking around #180 on the App Store charts. Reception in Korea has been more positive, with the game performing moderately well in downloads and community engagement.
