Ananta – Global Release Set for January 2027

Ananta finally has a release date, with NetEase confirming that its urban open world RPG will launch globally on January 15, 2027. After years of teasers, technical tests, and the awkward codename “Project Mugen”, the game now has a calendar slot—and it’s not buried in the holiday rush but boldly positioned at the start of the year.

The announcement was made during gamescom Opening Night Live, accompanied by a new trailer and the unveiling of the official website, which already features sections for characters, locations, and milestones. Developed by Naked Rain under NetEase, Ananta is described as a narrative-driven urban open world RPG where players explore sprawling cityscapes filled with business districts, hidden alleyways, tea towns, and bustling old streets. The game emphasizes assembling a team of diverse characters, each tied to unique storylines, while navigating a world that blends modern urban life with fantastical elements.

Pre-registration has already opened in the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store (Steam PC too), with a live counter tracking sign-ups, and NetEase has confirmed that the release will be global, avoiding the staggered rollouts that often frustrate fans of Asian-developed RPGs. This means players worldwide will be able to dive in simultaneously, a move that positions Ananta as one of the most ambitious launches in NetEase’s portfolio.

Ananta comes with a fusion of cinematic storytelling with open world exploration, which could resonate strongly with players tired of cookie-cutter gacha RPGs. The challenge will be delivering on the promise of depth and freedom across platforms, because nothing ruins immersion faster than realizing your epic rooftop chase is being throttled by mobile performance.
