Tower of God: Great Journey, the mobile RPG based on SIU’s popular webtoon, is officially ending service across all regions, including Korea, Japan, and Global servers. Developed by NGELGAMES, the game first launched in South Korea in April 2022, followed by a global release in February 2023 and a Japanese launch in November 2023.
The announcement comes as a little surprise, especially given the game’s strong IP and visually rich presentation. While no specific reason has been publicly cited, the decision likely stems from declining player engagement and revenue, a common challenge in the competitive gacha RPG space.
Tower of God: Great Journey featured an idle RPG format (maybe this is the reason), allowing players to collect and upgrade characters from the webtoon, including Baam, Khun, and Rak, and engage in auto-battles with manual ultimate skills. As the shutdown approaches, NGELGAMES is expected to roll out final events and compensation plans, including refunds for unused premium currency and farewell banners.
