Kaiju NO. 8 – The mobile game comes to global and open pre-registration

After the initial announcement, Akatsuki Games, in collaboration with TOHO and Production I.G., has officially unveiled Kaiju No. 8: The Game, a game adaptation of Naoya Matsumoto’s hit manga series. The game will be a F2P RPG  set to launch on iOS, Android, and PC platforms. Pre-registration is now live, offering exclusive in-game rewards for early sign-ups.

Dev said that the game will stay true to the manga’s essence, with a lot of cinematics and fast-paced, turn-based combat. Players will step into the shoes of Kafka Hibino and other iconic characters from the Defense Force, battling colossal Kaiju in a world plagued by destruction. The gameplay comes with intuitive controls and cinematic ultimate moves, ensuring every encounter feels as epic as the source material.

The game will feature an original narrative, expanding the universe and deepening the lore for dedicated fans. The announcement was accompanied by a special broadcast, showcasing the game’s trailer and gameplay highlights. Fans were treated to a glimpse of the Defense Force in action, with characters like Mina Ashiro and Kikoru Shinomiya wielding their signature weapons against towering Kaiju.

However, opinions on the game have been mixed. Some fans have expressed concerns about the pacing and paneling of the manga, which they hope the game will address. Others are excited about the potential for the game to breathe new life into the franchise, especially with its cinematic approach and ensemble cast,and don’t forget that is probably going to have gacha elements, and the franchise may be not big enough to sustain a long term.
