Reverie in the Moonlight – Demo launches on Steam

Kyoto-based indie developer room6 has released a playable demo for Reverie in the Moonlight (Japanese title: トロイメライの月あかり), a whimsical yet eerie chase-action game now featured in Steam Next Fest: October 2025 Edition. The game is slated for full release on PC (Steam) and I hope an iOS and Android release later.

In Reverie in the Moonlight, players follow Tete, a sleepless boy haunted by dreamlike monsters. Unable to fight back directly, Tete relies on a growing army of enchanted plushies—each with distinct combat roles, from melee attackers to healers and debuffers. The demo allows players to test five of the 40 plushie types and three of the 20 unlockable costumes, each offering unique buffs and strategic trade-offs.

Reverie in the Moonlight Gameplay

The game blends roguelite elements with tower defense mechanics, as players must survive nightly waves of enemies, collect gold, and purchase upgrades. Over 100 items are available, with some introducing weaknesses that require careful planning. Costumes like “Moonlight Mage” and “Nap Cloud” alter gameplay dramatically, encouraging replayability and experimentation.

room6, known for titles like Unreal Life and Gen’ei AP, emphasizes emotional storytelling and stylized pixel art. Here is the official trailer and the demo can be downloaded via the Steam page (limited to Japanese now).
