Good news from Japan. Cygames studio has just announced that Uma Musume Pretty Derby, the popular free-to-play horse girls racing simulation game, is finally getting an international English release for iOS and Android (although the exact release date hasn’t been revealed yet). For those unfamiliar with the game, Uma Musume Pretty Derby first launched in Japan on February 24, 2021, and quickly became a hit.
The game is part of a broader multimedia franchise that includes an anime series and other media. Players can experience the thrill of racing with anthropomorphized horse girls, each inspired by real-life racehorses. The characters’ unique interactions and charming designs have garnered a dedicated fanbase, myself included.
Cygames’ releases don’t usually make it outside Japan and Asia, so, Uma Musume Pretty Derby is a nice addition. To celebrate the upcoming English release, Uma Musume Pretty Derby will be playable at Anime Expo 2024. Attendees will get a chance to experience the game’s tutorial in English, which is a fantastic opportunity to get a feel for the gameplay and meet the beloved characters.
The game is currently available for free in Japan on the App Store and Japan Google Play. The international release is a testament to Cygames’ commitment to expanding their global reach, and I can’t wait to see how well it performs. I’ll be keeping a close eye on any new information about the English release, so stay tuned for updates. Check out the official English website or the X/Twitter account for more news.
