Japanese publisher Kodansha and developer Team Caravan announce Wind Breaker: Rebel Heroes (WIND BREAKER 不良たちの英雄譚), a free-to-play 3D animation RPG launching on March 12, 2025. This is the first-ever video game adaptation of the popular anime series, the first one where can explore its dynamic world in high detail. The game features an original story, 3D graphics, animatic battle sequences, and immersive anime-style cutscenes. With newly recorded voice-overs from the original cast, players can relive the anime’s storyline and experience fresh narratives that extend beyond the show.
In the PR announce via the official website, dev says that the game’s combat system will have a “Tag Skills,” which vary based on character pairings. Players can experiment with combinations like Haruka Sakura and Toma Hiragi or Akihiko Nirei and Hayato Suo to unlock unique effects and strategies. These dynamic team-ups promise engaging battles that reward creativity and tactical thinking.
Beyond combat, the game offers opportunities to patrol the town, participate in volunteer activities, and interact with the residents of Furin High School and Shishitoren members. These interactions deepen bonds with other characters, unveiling hidden sides to their personalities and enriching the overall experience.
For Wind Breaker fans, this game is a wish come true, blending beloved elements of the anime with fresh gameplay mechanics and stories. Now, the sad part, it is just limited to Japan. There are no news about a global release (you can check the Discord Server), but it should have at least english support. You can check the Steam Page (limited to Japan), iOS via the App Store, and Android vía Google Play. Pre-registration is now open.
