Rust Mobile is an upcoming survival sandbox game developed by Level Infinite under official license from Facepunch Studios, the creators of the original Rust. Designed to bring the brutal, open-world experience of the PC version to handheld devices, Rust Mobile retains core mechanics such as scavenging, crafting, base-building, and PvP combat. Players start with minimal gear and must survive in procedurally generated environments filled with threats from both wildlife and other players. The game promises a fully explorable sandbox with dynamic weather, resource management, and real-time encounters.
Currently, Rust Mobile is in active development, with internal testing already underway. A limited closed test was conducted in early 2025 for select Android users in Canada, and feedback from that phase is being used to refine gameplay and performance. The developers have confirmed that the mobile adaptation has evolved significantly since its initial tech demo, and a hands-on demo will be available at Gamescom 2025 in Cologne from August 20 to 24. Players attending the event will have the chance to try the game and receive exclusive merchandise.
While no official release date has been announced, Rust Mobile is confirmed for both Android and iOS platforms. The development team is focused on preserving the intensity and unpredictability of the original game while optimizing controls and systems for mobile users.
