Bandai Namco has officially announced the resumption of Sword Art Online Variant Showdown (SAOVS) after a prolonged maintenance period. Originally launched to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Sword Art Online anime, this action-packed mobile game brings beloved characters and an original story featuring Laila (voiced by Sumire Uesaka) into an immersive gameplay experience. Maintenance began in September 2023 to address game issues, and the wait is nearly over.
To mark its return, Bandai Namco has introduced a lot of updates. A new theme song, Saizensen, performed by ASCA, sets the tone for the game’s next chapter. Players can look forward to revamped main scenarios, now fully voiced, and new playable characters like Mito and Egil. The update also debuts the Multi-Battle system, an exciting addition to the battle mechanics, and key visuals to energize fans. The announcement was accompanied by a promotional video (PV) showcasing these updates, offering a sneak peek at the action and a heartfelt message from Producer Takeuchi.
In celebration, a global “PV Repost Campaign” is underway. Running until December 26, this campaign exemplifies the collaborative spirit of SAOVS’s community. When the game will be available? They don’t announced a date, just “winter”. But according the campaign in the official website, we might get the re-release before Christmas.
