Japan has just seen the release of Ascent Protocol (アセントプロトコル) Open Beta Test, from A-STARGAMES , a command-based role-playing game inspired by 1990s JRPGs. Set on Earth, the game introduces a mysterious life form called “Genos,” which arrives with meteorites, causing humanity to split into two factions: the underground dwellers of Geocity and the surface people who worship Genos as a new deity.
Players command a team with special abilities to reclaim the sky. The game features a grid-based battle map, where players encounter events such as enemy fights and item acquisitions. Combat follows a traditional turn-based system, allowing for strategic use of buffs and impressive special moves. The game is available on Japan in the Google Play Store (no news about a global release), it has been getting some mixed reviews, but the game looks nice to try.
