Athenian Rhapsody is a very interesting upcoming RPG adventure game, starting with the fact that it is an indie venture from a single developer. It has a graphic style that is reminiscent of the Pokémon of yesteryear while at the same time it seems to play like a kind of Undertale. It will be released for all mobile platforms, Android and iOS, as well as Nintendo Switch, Xbox and PlayStation.
Athenian Rhapsody offers a unique blend of gameplay elements, it is described (by devs) as a “souls-like platonic dating simulator with Cooking Mama and WarioWare style battle mechanics,” combined with the ability to trade entire playthroughs with friends. This innovative concept allows players to craft their own personalized stories, known as “Rhapsodies,” which can be shared and experienced by others.
The game is set in the world of Athens, where players would experience a nice storytelling and the chance to explore various mini-games while befriending 16 potential unique companions. With elements like “Souls-like dating,” players will navigate different endings and challenges, drawing bosses to battle along the way.
Scheduled for release on May 14th, Athenian Rhapsody will be available on iOS (you can pre-register), Android, PS5, PS4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms, including Steam. Developer Nico Papalia’s Twitter account provides updates, with Top Hat Studios serving as the publisher.
