BLACK STELLA PTOLOMEA to Shut Down on October… after struggled launch

Well well well. Japan’s CyberStep has announced that BLACK STELLA PTOLOMEA will terminate operations on October 3, 2024. The game, which launched on December 7, 2023, faced significant challenges, including over three months of long-term maintenance shortly after its release. Despite reopening on March 28, 2024, the game will have operated for just 10 months before its closure.

PTOLOMEA is a turn-based command combat game set in a near-future Tokyo, was based on the BLACK STELLA IP and featured contributions from notable creators such as Takaaki Suzuki and Fumiaki Marudo. The game received mixed reactions from players, with many criticizing its pacing and balance despite finding the story intriguing. And of course, the P2W elements.

Not good news for the fans, let’s hope they deliver a better game next time, of course there won’t be a global release, unless a global relaunch (?). For now, CyberStep has not provided a specific reason for the termination but expressed gratitude to the players and apologized for the inconvenience caused by the game’s closure.
