This is interesting. Japanese game dev studio Drecom has unveiled its upcoming mobile game, Disney STEP, a location-based treasure hunt adventure featuring Disney characters like Mickey Mouse. At first look the game looks a lot like Pokémon Go. As far we know, Step is scheduled for release in spring 2025 on iOS and Android, the game transforms players’ everyday surroundings into treasure hunt stages, where they can search for and collect Disney-themed treasures.
With the announcement, Drecom has opened pre-registration for a closed beta test (CBT), recruiting 10,000 players from Japan to participate from September 26 to October 7, 2024. The CBT will gather player feedback to refine the game before its official launch. Additionally, the first promotional video (PV) for Disney STEP has been released, showcasing the game’s unique features and immersive world.
Disney STEP Close Beta Test
Players interested in the beta can apply on the official Disney STEP website until September 17, 2024. Drecom is also running several promotional campaigns, including giveaways for Amazon gift cards, to engage the community ahead of the game’s release.
Well, let’s see how this new game will do in Japan. There are no news about a global release, but you can check the official Disney STEP X/Twitter account for updates.
