So, we have a new KOF game, although it’s not what I expected. The King of Fighters AFK is the latest KOF game from Netmarble. It was revealed at Tokyo Game Show 2024. This is a character-collecting game based on SNK’s iconic King of Fighters (KOF) series. The game features KOF characters reimagined in nostalgic pixel art.
The King of Fighters AFK will have a combat system with some strategic depth to gameplay, allowing players to develop and collect iconic KOF characters in a fresh, idle RPG format. In the mobile video game industry it is common to have deliveries of this type, using well-known genres for popular franchises. I don’t think this is the game KOF fans were hoping for, or need, but let’s see how it turns out. For now, you can check out the official website of the game.
