Fellow Moon, First impressions from the Open Beta Test

The newly released Fellow Moon – 新月同行 is getting some track in China’s gaming scene as a turn-based RPG with a unique urban fantasy twist. So far I can see that from the Open Beta (released on October 24) Fellow Moon it is a really nice immersive 2D experience where players battle through detailed environments and interact with a cast of nice characters.

In the  game’s battle mechanics, players strategize with a team of four characters in a system where each position affects attack range and defense. This, combined with special support characters and an “energy” system for executing powerful attacks, brings depth to every battle. For fans of strategic play, there’s even a roguelike mode where players choose buffs and face down unique enemies to earn rewards. In addition, the story mode offers a side-scrolling exploration mechanic, blending puzzle-solving with rich narrative interactions.

Fellow Moon Showcase

Progression in Fellow Moon follows a familiar path for gacha players: developing characters through leveling and upgrading. Its “artifact” system allows players to boost stats and customize abilities, creating tailored strategies. Gacha pulls operate on a 50/50 system for obtaining rare characters, and while grinding is a necessity, a monthly pass provides daily bonuses for those who want to progress faster.

For anyone interested in a turn-based RPG that combines engaging art with fast-paced gameplay, Fellow Moon might just be the next hit. Sadly, there are no global release announced yet, but this game is already trademarked in Japan, suggesting a broader rollout might be on the horizon.  More info on their official website or pre-register in the App Store China and the TapTap website.
