Japanese game company TAITO has announced (via Apple Newsroom) the release of Space Invaders Infinity Gene Evolve, a game set to launch exclusively on Apple Arcade on April 3. This is a new iteration which builds upon the classic “Space Invaders Infinity Gene,” introducing enhanced features and new gameplay mechanics.
Space Invaders Infinity Gene Evolve, such a long name, offers players a new experience where the game evolves as they progress. Starting with the familiar retro design, it gradually transforms into a cutting-edge 3D shooter, providing a fresh take on the iconic franchise. The game boasts over 100 variations, including a “Burst” feature that allows for powerful counterattacks, and a “Style Change” system enabling players to switch between classic shooting and bullet-hell modes on the fly.
The inclusion of guest ships from classic TAITO shooters such as Darius, Night Striker, and Raystorm adds to the nostalgic appeal. With 36 main stages, 30 extra stages, and 100 challenge stages that change with each playthrough, the game promises extensive replayability. It is nice to see how TAITO continues to innovate while honoring the game’s rich legacy.
