Just 3 months after its global launch, Tribe Nine, the action RPG developed by Too Kyo Games and published by Akatsuki Games, is officially shutting down on November 27, 2025. The official announcement comes as a surprise to many, given the game’s unique cyberpunk setting, the publisher and that it looks like an ambitious game.
Tribe Nine originally launched on February 20, 2025, for PC, iOS, and Android, a fast-paced action RPG experience set in Neo Tokyo. However, despite its intriguing premise, the game struggled to maintain player engagement. Akatsuki Games cited difficulty in sustaining long-term player interest as the primary reason for the shutdown.
With the closure announcement, all scheduled updates, including Chapter 4 of the main story and new playable characters Ichinosuke Akiba and Saizo Akiba, have been canceled. Additionally, paid in-game purchases have been discontinued, though players can still use existing premium currency until the official shutdown date.
What went wrong? We can speculate that Tribe Nine’s monetization model and lack of consistent content updates may have contributed to its decline. Plus the oversaturated mobile RPG market, plus, Akatsuki could never recover from the terrible launch. And they probably move to their next gacha, Kaiju N.8.
